Twitter Friends Movies and mother-in-laws

This story may not be as funny to everyone else as is was to me.

A few days ago Danielle and I drove from Dallas to San Diego. We spent the night there and then left our kids in my mother-in-laws care and we hopped on a place to go spend some time with a church for the weekend.  We knew that on Saturday afternoon our kids were going to go and see the muppet movie at a theater near La Mesa, CA.  I checked twitter during the afternoon and saw that a friend of mine was actually at the same theater seeing the same movie as my kids. So I texted him and told him to stand up and shout “Hey Soren” (the name of my oldest son).  He didn’t but since he knew my kids he went and said hi to my son.  This totally freaked out my Mother-in-law who was wondering who this guy was coming up and saying hi to her grandson.

Anyways the moral of the story is I think it’s funny how many ways we can stay connected and how twitter, Facebook, text-messages make us so much closer than we actually are.  I wish I’d seen the look on my mother-in-laws face when this random guy came up and called my oldest son by name.  (as a side note my kids have been to their house and he’s not creepy at all) :)
