Today was a tough day in the Park Cities. Last night a student in the community committed suicide. He was about as connected as you could be in this community. He was in troop 82 which meets at my church on Monday nights, he was on the football team at the high school, he was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church and the youth group there.
I just got home from a worship night prayer service at Park Cities Baptist. There were about 500 students there all of them trying to make some sort of sense of this situation. It was a good night for people to come together.
One thing I like about this part of the world is that most people have some sort of foundation in faith. A huge percentage of students/families either attend a church or have attended a church. It is natural for everyone to look to the Church when tragedies like this happen. It’s nice to see how many youth workers there are in our neighborhood too. So many people were out to help love students.
My prayer is for the family and for the students who were close to Boogie. This situation is tragic and we are here for you.
