Stuck in Bucharest

Several times over the last bunch of years I’ve come across situations that the famous Rood Problem Solving Techniques don’t work on. Today was one of those problems. At 3am we got in a car to get on a 5 am train to Bucharest. My friend Fred who is on my youth staff has had a difficult time making it here because he has a Kenyan passport and must obtain Visas for every country we enter. Fred had an appointment today at the American embasy to get a stamp so he could reenter the US.
Unfortunately they missplaced his appointment info which set us back a while and then they were unable to process his passport today. So this leaves us in Bucharest waiting to get his passport. Unfortunately it also means we are unable to join our ymteam to finish the Gypsy camp. We’ll hang out here waiting for his passport and will meet them at the airport on Wed.

It also means I’m traveling light for the next 48. I have the clothes I’m wearing, two books I just bought and my iPhone. :)

So much rain so little Germany.

Ok so it rained today. A lot of today. We had hoped to be touristy but really didn’t get to see much.

Tomorrow morning the team from Dallas shoes up and we’re meeting them at the Munich airport to fly to Romania.

Jul 21, 2008 one more Munich post

Today I watched a guy surf on a river in Munich. Looked like a lot of fun. Tough start though as you had to jump from the shore and land feet first on your board in a standing wave.

Good trip so far. Almost over jet lag. The team arrives Wed morning and we’ll fly to Romania together.

What is the HardRock Cafe good for in Munich? Free Wi-Fi for one thing. Sadly not for food though apparently their kitchen is slammed so we can’t order.

Heading to Germany tonight. Will be in Munich for two days setting up some end of trip stuff for our team. Next week when the team arrived we’ll be flying to Romania to run a camp for Gypsies.

I might not have much Internet but we’ll see.

Spotty internet and Camp Talks

Just started my second week of teaching here at Forest Home Ojai.  First week went well although I realized my teaching style needs to be changed a bit to connect with Junior High students.  I am constantly amazed at home big a difference there is between incoming 6th graders and incoming 9th graders.

Have had a great time with the camp staff and hanging out with Chuck Hooten (couldn’t link his site as the camp blocks myspace pages).

Family headed up to Fresno to visit friends for a couple of days so I’m resting, reading and rejuvenating.  :)

Blogging from my phone

First post from the new iPhone 2.0 we’re staying in a sibglewide trailer in Ojai California. Out here speKibg for two weeks and then flying to Romania to run a camp for Gypsies.

Danielle’s Birthday

Today is Danielle’s Birthday.  Since we’re in Ojai California I figured that I would take her to the word famous Ojai Resort and Spa the only catch is you can’t go to the resort without purchasing a spa package.  So today at 1pm we’re getting scrubbed and rubbed.  I’m the Moroccan and Danielle the Pomegranate.

MOROCCAN  MINT  SUGAR  SCRUB
Adelightfully invigorating scrub made with fresh leaves of mint and spearmint relieves stress and awakens the senses. Includes a scalp massage, hand and foot massage

POMEGRANATE  HONEY  PEARL  BODY  POLISH
Adeliciously rich body polish that is high in antioxidants and coupled with crystallized honey, this polish helps the skin look younger and feel
healthier.  Includes a scalp massage, hand and foot massage

Never done anything like this before (she has) so I’m feeling a little sketchy.  On a cool note we have the whole afternoon to hang out there as the camp is taking care of our kids today.
