Ok so I don’t think I’ve ever made the statement “I wish I was at Disneyland because it’s cheaper” but I did today. We went to the State Fair which is a big deal here in Texas. Most school districts give students a day off to attend the fair. It was hot and expensive. Parking was nuts so we ended up valet parking (so Park Cities) we had corndogs and drinks for lunch and did some rides and played a few games. We watched the human cannonball which Kaije said was not high enough. Soren got scared when a pig walked by him and wanted out of the livestock area.
All said and done Disneyland would be more expensive but at least there I only have to pay for food when I’m in the park. The rides are all covered in the admission price. Here you pay for everything and they gouge you hard.
That’s what I think. Of course if we bring our own food and go on a day when rides are capped at a certain price we could do it cheaper. But, we’re new.
Hi Lars I got introduced to your blog from marko’s link. After serving in CA for 10 years and now in the Dallas area I can totally relate to many of your posts. My wife and I said the same thing about Disneyland last week after our first (and probably last) Texas Fair experience. We went expecting a dose of TX and felt more like the most expensive carny in a parking lot we’d ever seen. It cost me 18 bucks to take my kids on one ride!
