Usually I don’t refer to too many things as “hot”. Yesterday though it really was. Soren and I went with our Junior High group to Six Flags over Texas. We got there about 4pm and it was hot. I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. By the evening is was sweet. Today we’re going to the Circus with the high school group and both Soren and Kaije are stoked.
The second “hot” thing yesterday was a few things that Apple let out of the bag. Let me just say that I realize I am slightly geekier than most and I recognize it. There were a lot of updates shown to their popular software programs like Imovie, iphoto and the like. Probably the most significant for me was the new addition of mpeg-2 support in imovie. This means that the new camera I bought and shot a ton of footage in Romania now becomes useful as I have not been able to do anything with the footage because it stores is in the beforementionded codec. Basically this means that a number of the supersmall camcorders on the market are now more accessible to the mac user. I’m stoked.
This is a partcularly busy week at work but a good one too. We’ve been doing a lot of brainstorming and dreaming about this upcoming 2007-2008 school year. I’ve been challenging my staff to try and do new things in new ways and I’ve been impressed to see them grabbing hold of my vision. Hopefully I’ll start posting more here about ideas and plans I have and walk through how I landed on that vision. Perhaps that might be the vision of this blog for the next couple months. I know it’s felt visionless for a while.
