What was I thinking?

So tonight I went out with my good friend Bobby who plays in a band called This Holiday Life

We went to an English restaurant and I had Fish and Chips. About 1,000 calories later (or more) I’m sitting in front of my computer sad thinking about how hard I’m going to have to work out tomorrow to burn off those calories.

It’s a tough thing to be a musician but Bobby is one of the more talented yet stable people that I know. He’s a good friend and you should all buy his album. :)

Texas

When God speaks it is good to listen. This last 4 months I’ve been praying that God would open up a door for us to do ministry that was in a great location for my family and was an amazing job for me. Well that door opened wide open and it is in Texas. We are moving to University Park which is right in the heart of Dallas. I’m going to be the Director of Youth Ministry at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. The Youth Ministry staff there is huge. There are 12 full-time staff between 5-12 grades. I’m getting to lead this amazing team. We’re moving into a house directly across the street from the church. It’s so close that Soren can look out of his kindergarten class and he’ll see our house. I can just walk across the street to work. We’ve been so blessed by the people there and my phone has been ringing off the hook today with congratulations from them.

It’s cool to see God’s hand at work. I mean seriously if it wasn’t God I know that I would never have ever thought that Texas was going to be a possibility for living.

A great day

We traveled to Bel Air Presbyterian Church today to visit with a bunch of old friends and be in the service. Unfortunately, we hit some traffic and ended up getting there late and after trying to find classes for our kids we got to the service about 40 minutes in. It was good to see so many old friends. We ended up at Chevy’s (one of my favorite restaurants in LA) with Rhett and Heather. He’s someone you should be reading if you aren’t already.

Best Camp activity ever

Thanks to Marko for this one. This is probably the craziest camp type afternoon activity I’ve ever seen.

This just screams out “Lawsuit” to me.

The Rare 2nd post

So I’m posting for the 2nd time today. Today was beautiful and I tried to be outside as much as possible. But, tonight is reserved for one thing: “Save the Cheerleader save the world” That’s right after a long break “Heroes” is back on tonight. It’s now 7:38pacific so I have just under 1.5 hours to wait until Danielle and I can watch one of our favorite shows. I know its not very profound but we like the little things in life.

mmm can’t wait for my kids to go to bed. And……thinking about going surfing tomorrow.

Too tired to think

It’s 6am on Monday. I’m in an online chat with 20 people from my D.Min program from all over the world. We chose 6am because it fits most peoples schedules. It’s only really tough for those of us in the pacific time zone. The only problem is I was in Dallas for the weekend and our flight got delayed yesterday. I went to bed at 2am. 4 hours of sleep doesn’t not make me a great thinker.

Weird Site stats

So I discovered today that the people who read my blog really perk up when I talk about back hair. Not surprising I guess knowing who some of you are. This blog has been an experience and I suppose something that has continually gone through a process of evolving. Occasionally I write something about what I’m studying but often it is simply things about my life and observations about what it’s like to be a 36 year old husband, father of three, pastor and friend. Sometimes I wish I could write as well as my friend Rhett, had great ministry ideas like my friend Phil or even had the platform of my friend Marko. But, that’s not who I am. I’m just a guy trying to figure out what God is doing in his life and hoping I don’t screw it up. I’m pretty transparent and comfortable sharing my thoughts and ideas about things that I often don’t fully comprehend. I’ve got some great friends who help me fill in the spots where I’m weak. For that I am lucky.

I suppose I should post

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been posting. This is a travel month for me. I’ve been in North Carolina, Las Vegas and next weekend in Dallas. Trying to keep life normal in the midst of it all.

Here’s a funny note. I have a little back hair. Not a lot (it’s not a shirt) but a little. Danielle bought me a bottle of Nair which does the trick. The other night she put it on me and we left it on a little too long. I knew there was going to be problems when I felt it burning. Anyways I have first degree chemical burns on much of my back. (Sad)

Can’t write…… new mac stuff…..

Ok so here’s the geek side of me. Today new mac products are being introduced and I’m watching it live via the web. I’m a geek.

Back

Back in the swing of things after a great weekend with my wife. Today started my 4th semester of my Doctoral program. It’s gone by so quick.

Funny thing on the way to school today. My son Kaije who is turning 4 announced that he wanted a Star Wars birthday party which was no big surprise. Then my older son told me I could have a Lost party. I was surprised and impressed that he knew what Lost is. He’s 6
