Thanks to Mike D. for introducing me to the book West of Jesus. I bought it yesterday and have had a hard time putting it down. It’s written in a Blue Like Jazz narrative style which is the perfect genre for exploring God and introducing the surfing community to thoughts about him. I often wonder how something like this might actually be more effective as a too of evangelism than a lot of the things we do to try and reach people. Now granted I’m not done with the book and can’t vouch for the overal theology of it but I am attracted to its theme of searching for something "bigger than us."

Hope you enjoy the book. It’s pretty amazing. What’s been cool is that Kotler and I have been in email contact back and forth since I read the book. He’s a great thinker. Enjoy.
