It’s not often that I praise me

Like I said in the title I don’t praise me very much. Today is an exception. Here’s the story. I have been thinking for a while that I needed to figure out a way to use the internet to make some $. I spend a huge chunk of my day online so it only makes sense that I would be thinking this way. I also have a very strong like and knowledge of Apple computers. Today I bought a Macintosh Pismo G3 laptop from Craigslist in San Diego. Paid $100 for it because it was “Non functioning” I did some research online before I bought it. Within 30 seconds of being in my office I had the computer running and surfing the web. I now face the dilema of giving the laptop to my wife or reselling it on Craigslist for twice what I paid for it. Danielle would like a laptop to use in bed and I would like money. Oh what to do…..

Why so few posts and I’m a super dad

Today I have been home with my kids and two of my sister-in-laws kids. Ages 5, 4, 3, 1, .5 Surprisingly, its gone better than I expected. But in the middle of planning a houseboat trip, selling our house and Danielles grandmothers hospitilization its a bit crazy right now.

Why we get sucked in

Reality shows suck me in. Not all of them fortunately. I’d like to believe that my taste is relatively sophisticated. I don’t go for the Big Brother, The Swan, Temptation Island. No I’m mostly into the Real World, Laguna Hills, Orange County Chopper type of show. I tried to think today about what are the qualities I like in these shows so here’s a small list. 1. A cast smaller than 7. More than that and I can’t keep track of what’s going on and the interactions between characters isn’t close enough. Surprisingly The Real World usually only has a cast of 7. Road Rules also follows that number. 2. I don’t like games. I’m not into battles and competitions. I guess that’s why I don’t like Survivor, The Amazing Race or anything like that. I know this is not true but it feels like those shows are too contrived with the competitions. That’s totally false I realize because the producers can make anyone look like they want on any show. 3. I like interactions that are based on real life or quasi real life. Laguna beach takes place where they live in their homes, they hang out at their own coffee shops and beaches.

Ok I’m done. I could talk about this for a while but I’m going to spend more time thinking about it.

Tough day

Yesterday was a tough day. We just got back from vacation and Danielle’s grandmother was in the hospital intensive care. Midday yesterday they had to resucitate her. She is now stable and we’re praying. On a positive note all of her kids and every single grandkid made it to the hospital yesterday. That was a show of family support.

Back Attack

Back from Mexico. Glad to be home but already missing the pool. Had a great time with family.

Hello Cabo

Hey So I’m out of town. We’re going on a very necessary vacation with my family. My parents decided to take us all to Cabo to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. We’re stoked. I’m not taking my computer with me nor my cell phone. I’m going to do everything I can to not thinkn about work at all.

I’m growing up

Today this phrase was uttered by a father “You’ve obviously done this before and you are very confident.” This phrase was used to describe me at a wedding rehearsal I was doing. Scary because I agreed with him. I felt very comfortable at the rehearsal and knew that I had my stuff together. It seems like only recently that I was scared in that scenario. Am I growing up? I’m not sure but at least things are getting easier.

10 hours at the beach

I love Tuesdays during the summer. I just got home from a 10-8 beach day. Amazing weather, warm water, cool youth group. Not much else to say except I loved it.

Zidane flipping out

I actually think that what happened at the World Cup yesterday helps me to see that there is still some “realness” in sports. So much of the Athletic world in the US is fake, focused on money and populated by prima donna athletes. When Zidane got kicked out of the last greatest game of his life and subsequently took away Frances greatest chance to win it showed how “real” that game still was. He was giving it his all, all his passion, all his frustration, all his pride. I like that. Now I do think it was stupid for him to do it but I will not cast the first stone.
