DCB

Went to a show tonight in Los Angeles. The David Crowder Band played at the Convention center for an event called Fresh 2005. Erwin McManus from Mosaic spoke. It was an interesting night for me. Took some students from church that aren’t quite as involved in the bubble as me. I’ve seen the DCB at least 15 times and I vibe with their particular style of leading worship. The students I took have very little (if any) background in the Christian Worship music scene. It was an interesting ride home. I was reflecting in my head on the event, the nuances of the new album and the length of David Crowders facial hair. My students (age 14-17) were in a different place. I know they didn’t really know what they were getting themselves into and weren’t quite sure how to respond. The best possible thing that could have happened though did. At the end of the show everyone was given a copy of the album to take home. A cool idea that allows the experience to continue longer than the two hour event. I wonder how that idea could be used in ministry. I know many churches make the speakers message availalbe right after the service but I don’t know of any youth ministries that do it. What if the students got a postcard after the service with the announcements listed and a link to a site where the mp3 would be put that afternoon…….Just thinking outloud. Buy the David Crowder album on Itunes. Collisionentrypage
